Silent Night

Merry Christmas!

Silent Night is one of my favorite Christmas hymns. I made this arrangement to share with my family and friends.

Silent night! Holy night! All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child. Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace; Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night! Holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight!
Glories stream from heaven a far; Heavenly host sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Savior, is born! Christ, the Savior, is born!
Silent night! Holy night! Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth; Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Text: Joseph Mohr, 1792-1848; trans. by John F. Young, 1820-1885
Music: Franz Gruber, 1787-1863

The violin in this video is well over 100 years old and is Ober’s violin for those of you who knew Ernest Oberholtzer.

Enjoy the music, and the wonderful message of this sacred hymn.
