      • Mike WalchMike Walch is a Stanford Law School graduate, practicing corporate law attorney, Hebrew scholar, Bible scholar, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mike frequently provides insightful firesides focused on ancient and modern scripture with special insights on archeology, original Hebrew language, historical settings and customs, rhetorical devices in ancient writings such as Chiasms, and modern-day insights based on available artifacts and evidences. And, most importantly to me, Mike is one of my good friends.
      • Wayne MayWayne May is an author, lecturer, and publisher best known for his work on North American archaeology as it relates to the Book of Mormon. He is a prominent advocate of the “Heartland model,” a theory suggesting that the historical events recorded in the Book of Mormon took place in the heartland of North America rather than Central or South America.

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible King James Edition

The Bible is a collection of sacred religious texts or scriptures central to Judaism and Christianity.
Structure and Composition
  • Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures): In Protestant traditions, this contains 39 books covering the creation of the world, early history of ancient Israel, laws, poetry, and the messages of the prophets (similar to the Jewish Tanakh, though ordered differently). [1, 2, 3]

  • New Testament: This contains 27 books written in the first century A.D., featuring the Gospels (the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ), the history of the early church (Acts), letters (Epistles) to various communities, and the prophetic book of Revelation. [1, 2]

  • Authorship and Languages: Written by roughly 40 different human authors over a span of about 1,500 to 1,600 years in three original languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. [1, 2]

Core Purpose

  • For Jews, the Hebrew Bible records God’s covenant with the descendants of Abraham and Israel.

  • For Christians, the entire Bible tells a unified story of creation, human rebellion (the Fall), redemption through Jesus Christ, and the promise of a restored creation. [1, 2, 3, 4]
